It has therefore launched a call for tenders for the operation of new routes, in the form of public service contracts financed by SMAPP.
At the end of this procedure, Air Nostrum, regional airline and franchise of Iberia, was selected to operate the yearly Pau-Madrid route with three weekly rotations, using a CRJ200 50-seat aircraft.
This route represents the opportunity to opena new international hub from Pau (in addition to Paris CDG), with more than 60 connecting destinations. Spain is also the leading market for inbound tourism to Pau-Bearn region (more than a third of foreign tourists). The realisation of this project remains uncertain for the moment given the current health crisis.
