Another top award for Hermes Airports
Acquired the ISO 50001: 2011 in the field of energy management

Hermes Airports has been accredited with the ISO 50001:2011, considered to be the leading international award in the field of energy management.

Since 2010, Hermes has adopted measures for saving energy, reducing carbon dioxide emissions, significantly reducing the environmental impact arising from the operation of the airports. At the same time, Hermes undertook initiatives aimed at both raising awareness and informing the airport community and the public in general.

As a result of this effort, over the last five years Hermes’ achieved:

  • the reduction in electricity consumption by 30%
  • the replacement of more than nine thousand lamps and lighting with LED and
  • the installation of inverter equipment in cooling and air heating systems of the terminal buildings of two airports.

With the acquisition of the certification ISO 50001:2011, both Larnaka and Pafos international airports have been included in the short list of airports worldwide that managed to conquer this important distinction.

The primary goal of Hermes, was and remains the utilization of electricity in the most effective, efficient and environmentally responsible manner. At the same time the company explores the possibilities of utilizing renewable forms of energy.
